[NV] Speeds about 1/3 On Ultimate.

Hi long time reader first time poster. I've enjoyed the new speeds on the Ultimate Tier for A couple of weeks but now the download seems to be what it used to be but the upload is still running at the new speeds. I'm running a Motorola SB 6141 modem. Its hooked to an Asus RT-N66U Router, then my computer is plugged directly into that. I had no errors showing in my modem log and rebooted it and am still getting the same speeds. This is the modem as of 9:25 this evening.

I've run tests from both speedtest.net and cox's own but am still getting 50-68Mb\s. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I'm also attaching some of the speed tests.

First think I would check what you have your upload/download set to on the RT-N66U via Traffic Manager > QoS. If that is correct, try disabling it. If no go, bypass the RT-N66U and go direct into the modem, see if you get the speeds direct. Also, is this a semi new computer? Were not talking XP SP1 or anything right? Alot more things come into play as you push 100Mbps. You start seeing odd bottlenecks pop up that you wouldn't have considered before.

I don't have anything set in the qos. Never even turned it on. The computer is running windows vista. I did get the speed for awhile. I haven't changed any settings on my router or computer. I thank you for the things to try. I'll try the computer directly to the modem later today.

Don't use speedtest.net, their results are crap. I am on the Ultimate tier with the exact same hardware as you. My results with speedtest.net before and after the network upgrades top out at 30 mbps. I know that I am receiving the full speeds (150/20) via usenet.

Try the Verizon speedtest instead: »speedtest.verizon.com/

Could you PM me the modem's MAC address?

Umm.. you *do* know that the Verizon speedtest is just a Verizon theme/skin over an Ookla/Speedtest "Speedtest"?? .. If you don't believe it, look closely at the bottom righthand corner of the Verizon speedtest...

Most high volume test sites are.

Use the internal cox test instead.

Yes, I do. Unfortunately, most of the servers available on the the speedtest.net site are overloaded or throttled and do not give accurate results. Even though it is using the Ookla software, the site I linked to is not speedtest.net nor any of its servers.

I tried the computer straight to the cable modem and still was getting around 50 Mb/s down. My computer is 3 years old running Windows Vista and Gigabit Ethernet. I seem to be getting somewhat better speeds during the day but not even close to 100 Mb/s.
