maleyj join:2008-11-23 Springfield, PA | HD Homerun Dual - Setup advice w/o using wired connections I Have the MI424WR Rev I. i just hooked up an HD homerun dual to my ASus G73JH via the builtin Gigabit ethernet controller. After a lot of frustration I did get it to work (by turning off windows firewall which is not a solution IMO) but when running windows media center under windows 7 on the ASUS I did see a message that the signal was weak. Are there any tweaks I can do on the router or PC to improve my situation ? SO far in Advance security settings - 802.11 mode - I set it to Performance (N) mode. At this point I am not directly using any of the ports on the router. Thanks for any ideas or experiences! |

| The UPNP and IMPG settings are screwing it up.. Search for UPNP and there are 2 hidden settings. I am going to use another router for Wifi and use Actiontec for Guide. Lee -- My opinion on religion and science? Science builds airplanes. Religion flies them into buildings. |

 | reply to maleyj Is your WMC PC in a domain, or standalone?
The SD HDHR Prime software installer sets up the firewall rules properly for the majority of users, but if your PC is a domain member then you'll need to adjust the windows firewall settings manually.
If you want to use the beta DLNA functionality with the HDHR Prime then the referenced link above is likely relevant. If you simply want to use WMC (Win7 or Win8) with the HDHR Prime it is likely just a matter of fixing the firewall rules. |

Thanks a lot for the help! I have a standalone setup, 4 Rules were set by the program. I am strictly OTA and an using the HomeRun Dual
Would the ultimate solution be just to get wired connections setup for the laptop and the HomeRun Dual? |

maleyj join:2008-11-23 Springfield, PA | Re: HD Homerun Dual - Setup w/wired and wireless connections Bottom line, I had my router reloacted so now I can attach my newly installed antenna and plug the HD homerun directly into the FIOS router. I can view OTA via wirelessly all over the house. IF anyone is interested the HD homerun dual is down to $59 on Amazon (I paid 65) but there is a new unit coming on the horizon that supposedly is optimized for OTA (but still has 2 tuners like the present model) BTW the antenna upgrade got me from 35 viewable stations to 51! (plus one scetchy analog) |
