Leviton makes a wireless 3way switch...

I'm not sure if it's "economical" or not - but it exists, anyways...

I used one of their remote switches at my last house - range wasn't great, but it worked fine.

Maybe you can fit this behind the current switch:

But then you would need to un-3-way it and replace the other switch with either their SwitchLink or KeypadLinc

Z-wave 3 way switches are fairly cheap. Get that and a zwave remote.

Smarthome's Insteon switches get my vote. In my master bedroom, there are no fewer than 6 light switches in 5 different locations. NONE of them near the bed. This solved it quite nicely AND I have full control over everything from the bed as well.

I can vouch for the Leviton 6697-W that LazMan posted about. I've had it for a few years and it works great.

Took the switch in the wall out, wire nutted the two ends together so all the outlets in the room are always on and put the Leviton switch in. Remote receiver on the other side of the room and wammo blammo. It works.

You can't use a custom wall plate, though which kinda sucks.

Got it at Lowes for like, no more than $25 or 30.
