[FL] Pensacola Upload Speed

I'm curious if anyone here has heard of any upgrades (hopefully soon) that might permit more than 5Mbps up? It usually dips down around 3.5-4Mbps during peak evening hours and I've been trying to run a stream on Twitch.tv which, sadly is pretty much only possible at 480p or lower with my crappy upload.

I have Cox's Ultimate tier, and have even thought of swapping over to Cox business but the rep told me none of their cable plans permit more than 5Mbps.

Is there anything new for me in the future?

We are normally dead last, so don't expect it anytime soon.

Most if not all internet connections are asymmetrical for the reason that you often download more than you upload. Even the business lines are a maximum of 5Mbps so none of their services are not designed to host servers. You can look at getting a symmetrical connection through someone else but don't expect it to be cheap.

A t1 line would be a slower speed and by the time you step up into a t3 you are looking at 1000 to 2000 per month not including setup costs.

Your only hope is that Verizon expands the fiber coverage or that Google's internet takes off and expands quickly. You may also find that the streaming of video from your computer to other people can be considered as hosting a server which is a violation of the Cox TOS
