[CA] Where are the speed increase upgrades ?

It's been quite a while since we got any real significant speed increases.
Any future speed upgrades (FREE) in the foreseeable future ?

I would love to know this too. I feel like I'm getting ripped off now that az pays the same price for double the speed.

Bonding 8x4 and getting good speedtest results in Santee, but still can't max out usenet. Wonder if the speed increase will even do any good.

I have good speeds and as well bonding 8x4 but I'd still like to get the same LARGER speeds that others are getting in other markets for the same amount of money.
As for Usenet ... what are your speeds ? What package do you have ?

The premier tier has the upload speed increased.

So now the premier tier has faster upload than ultimate does here in Orange County..

Why won't cox upgrade ultimate's upload speed

Huh?

Since when did they upgrade premier tiers upload in OC? As far as I'm concerned based off of COX's website it's still stuck at 2mbps

I think there has been no official/published upgrade, but I've been getting 10Mb/s (or more) up since early December: »[CA] channel bonding update in OC

Still only bonding 8/2.

I have ultimate package and generally don't go over 4.5MB/sec (using giganews with 50 connections). Pretty lame.

Have you taken into account all variables ?
Modem, splitters, usenet client and it's settings ...
With Preferred, I am getting 2.4MB/s on average using 25 connections.

That's just the Powerboost, right?

I was told there'd be a speed upgrade with the March rate increase, but haven't seen one yet.

Funny that we got a RATE increase but no speed increase ...
I was paying $10 less not long ago then out of nowhere I get charged more, but no speed increase. What makes it worse is this ...

Actually just figured out it's some internal problem. Hooked my modem straight to my computer and easily maxed out the connection. I'm guessing it's my aging router (WRT54GL)

The WRT54G line is very aged and the cpu was only able to support from around 2.2 to 4.0 MBps unless you changed the firmware out to something like ddwrt or tomato and even then your only going to see smaller increases.

Pick up something like the ASUS RT N66u or RT AC66U if you have the cash to do so and you will have a router that will be able to handle your connections for another five to ten years. Plus you will have gigabit support on your internal network and a lot longer range for wifi and better security as well.

Yep, bought the Asus RT-N66U and the speeds are wonderful.

Anyone noticing very slow uploads today? Speedtest is coming in at 0.5mbps for upload, but download is fine. I tried again with my old router just to be sure it wasn't a setting on the new router and its the same.

Getting 3 channel upstream bonding in 92606.

However latency seems to be back to where it was before I got the upgrade to ultimate

About 7-9 MS on the 1st hop after our gateway, inline with what we were seeing prior to ultimate.

On Ultimate prior to upstream bonding I've seen as good as 4MS and usually around 5-6MS. So much for the excitement of speeds =(

I called Cox about a month ago and they told me all the markets were getting the upgrade. They told me it would take a while, but all markets would eventually see the upgrade by the end of the year. I don't really mind my download speed...I average about 30Mb, and that basically does the job. I would really love an upload increase though. 3-5Mb doesn't cut it nowadays . 92154 here bonding 8x1

San Diego seems to be ahead of everyone else in SoCal. There are parts of Orange County, particularly LF and Irvine that have bonded upload but LH, Aliso...still on 4X1.

Irvine here - was on 8x2 for a while, but after a reboot, back down to 8x1 (premier, at 25mbps).

I just manually rebooted my Cisco modem and - FINALLY - I see 8x4 bonded. I live in Vista (92084).

Downstream Channels

Power Level: Signal to Noise Ratio:
Channel 1: -1.1 dBmV 40.8 dB
Channel 2: -0.8 dBmV 40.8 dB
Channel 3: -1.2 dBmV 40.3 dB
Channel 4: -1.4 dBmV 40.3 dB
Channel 5: -5.0 dBmV 39.0 dB
Channel 6: -5.3 dBmV 38.5 dB
Channel 7: -5.3 dBmV 38.3 dB
Channel 8: -5.8 dBmV 38.4 dB

Upstream Channels

Power Level:
Channel 1: 45.5 dBmV
Channel 2: 45.2 dBmV
Channel 3: 45.2 dBmV
Channel 4: 46.2 dBmV

However, I tested the speed on a couple different sites and the speeds are still unchanged from the consistent 60/5.5 or so I normally see on my Ultimate tier. Pings haven't changed either. Overall, I'm just happy to finally see some upgrade progress! Now...about those speed increases...

We just got the 6141 and are bonding 4x4.

BTW... We got the walled garden and activated it on line.

Were on the preferred 18/2

Just got the 6141, bonding 4x3 still just as with SB6120.

Walled garden and activated via net.

Ultimate 50/5

Zip: Irvine 9260X

Really disappointed at the increase in latency upstream bonding got us, that or it was the fact that our account was most likely binding to a business package QOS policy or something along the lines of that when we did the upgrade to ultimate.

Update: Had coxtech push new firmware over, now bonding 8x3. Upstream speeds are suffering for some reason compared to before. Will do some more troubleshooting and report back

Update2: Reset defaults and rebooted modem, upstream speeds are good again.

Here's a traceroute before I got upstream bonding:
