Re: [CA] Where are the speed increase upgrades ? 92653 and we're still on 4X1. Grrrrr. At least you are at 4x1. I only get 3x1 even after reboots here.

 New Modem - Motorola SB6141 | | |
Just got a new modem today; I installed it and GOD DAM!! XD
COX has upgraded there internet to some kind of awesome here in Oceanside CA (area code 92054), it's like it's symmetrical fiber optic; I imagine it can be better off peak hours of the day. All I did was upgrade my modem from the Motorola SB5101U to the SB6141 and that made the difference. Old speeds were something like the picture above, but these new speeds, especially on the upload side, are worlds better. XD

 | reply to SoCal619 In north FL, we got the speed increases a few years ago, but they failed to let people know that we cannot really take advantage of it without the DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
Here it is a few years later, and that speed upgrade (Preferred package) from 15Mb to 25Mb at $35/mo (then), is now "up to" 18Mb for $56/mo.
Be careful what you wish for, whenever they upgrade the system, their prices start jumping $3-5 every 3-6 months... then after a little time their so called "speed upgrade" required them to modify their packages, speeds and prices so you are paying quite a bit more for a very small minor speed bump. In my case $21 more per month for a minor 3Mb speed increase. |

 | Why are some users seeing almost symmetrical upload speeds while others are still capped at normal speeds? Is this just a speedtest ("powerboost") flaw or can they sustain those rates? |

1 edit | As for mine, those upload speeds are aided via powerboost. With my old 5120 I was getting about 20/5 with these speed tests and with my new 6141 I'm seeing these faster speeds. With both modems I get a sustained 260kB/s up and that's maxing out my 2 Mbps upload speed.

 | Yea what you guys seeing 20Mpbs+ on speedtest.net is just Powerboost. That's what I got too with my test. But your true upload speed is still limit to 2-3Mbps (Premiere package). If you want to know what im talking about go do a sustained speed test at »test.lvcm.com/ |

 | reply to JmGx said by JmGx:said by tower :said by tonker83:I would love to know this too. I feel like I'm getting ripped off now that az pays the same price for double the speed. We all are getting ripped off, they have Triple the sped i do and pay the same!!! Was thinking about filing out a Compliant with the FCC/Utilities Commission in my state. I called Cox about a month ago and they told me all the markets were getting the upgrade. They told me it would take a while, but all markets would eventually see the upgrade by the end of the year. I don't really mind my download speed...I average about 30Mb, and that basically does the job. I would really love an upload increase though. 3-5Mb doesn't cut it nowadays . 92154 here bonding 8x1 Hey JmGx, did a Cox Tech really told you that they're increasing the speed for all markets by the end of this year, 2013?
Yea my download is the same as yours which is about 30Mbps+ and I don't really need anymore than that, except I need more upload speed. It's still only 2.5Mpbs upload here in San diego for Premiere package. |

It's still only 2.5Mpbs upload here in San diego for Premiere package. That's what I was told, yes. I have 4 upstream channels, and speedtest.net shows 25mbps UL, yet most other sites show ~4mbps. Actual uploading is about 250-500kb. This supports the idea that the "upgrades" are just a test and not really out yet. |
