luls almost forgot.. thermal paste..what kind should i get and how much is the norm to put on? I hear just a little line down the middle of the chip is good. but i dunno. thanks! |

I use Arctic Silver Ceramique because the Silver needs reapplied every couple of years, whereas Ceramique doesn't have a lifetime. |

Good point. I find I am, for some reason, taking off my CPU cooler and reseating it, at least once every 12-18 months, so the stuff gets reapplied anyways. |

I was able to buy a dozen 6gram shin etsu x23-7921-5 for half off so got plenty of that. They are usually $7 per 3 grams.
I normally envision what a pea size would be and use about 2/3 or 3/5 on smaller CPU die sizes and a full pea size on x79 2011 chips |
