[DSL] 2Wire 2701 HG-B locked or not?

Hi,

Got this 2Wire 2701 HG-B from AT&T for $100 then got a rebate from 2Wire for $75. So is it locked or not, how can I tell? If it is, how do I unlock it?

Thanks

Very simply, can you go into its settings and change its settings?

You asked about Fusion service, so I'm assuming you want to use this 2Wire with Fusion. This means you want it to be configured for DHCP, rather than PPPoE.

If you open a browser window and go to 192.168.1.1, it should prompt you for a username/password; the usual defaults are "admin" and "password" respectively.

After logging in with that username and password, it should show you the 2Wire interface page. Up at the top, click on "Broadband Link", then click on "Advanced Settings" right underneath that.

There's a drop-down for Connection Type. It may be set to PPPoE, or it might be set to something else. As long as it lets you change it to DHCP, you should be ok.

While you're on that page, you'll also want to look in the upper-right corner and make sure "VPI" is set to 0 and "VCI" is set to 35. They should be set to that already anyways.

Last but not least - make sure it's a HG-B and not HGV-B. HGV-B is a U-verse branded modem, not a regular DSL modem.
