Dsl'xtr confused about Fusion service

ATTN: George/Nick

I am a long time subscriber to Dslextreme. I currently have the 1.5 mb service with 5 static ip's. I am currently billed $44.95 for this service.

When you announced the Fusion service I was very excited. I read their info...$39.95 plus taxes anytime/all the time, 1 static ip included. Especially since Att bumped the rates again, this looks very attractive. But when I added the taxes back, it brings the bill to $52.44...less attractive.

But I am concerned about what this service will be and what happens after the first year.

If I've read you correctly, the cost for the Fusion free/included single static ip is $5/month, or $10/mo if I want to maintain the 5 static ip's I have now or would it be +$10/mo for only 4 static ips?

Also, your $39.95 base price jumps to $44.95 after 1 year. correct?

I am also concerned about the outside wiring maintenance. if there is a line problem, do I just dial 611 or are there going to be other procedures for service. Because of the squirrel's in the area, this has been an issue in the past that affected both dsl and voice service.

I spoke to the office about this and they thought I would call Dslextreme Tech Support. Since this isn't a local 24/7 operation any more, I feel uncomfortable with that answer.

Appreciate your assistance,

Paul

Unfortunately, the money stuff is more Billing's territory than mine. I'll have to check with them on those questions and get back to you on that.

With regards to outside wiring, if there's a problem give us a call (rather than 611) and we'll get a field tech out to fix it. You could also shoot me an IM, of course. If a squirrel has gnawed through a phone cord, then the issue should quickly get escalated to Tier 2, and from there to dispatch. Field techs usually dispatch out between the hours of 9am-6pm, with exact date and time based on local dispatch availability.

$39.95 is not a promotion for Sonic.net, don't think it would make sense for DSLX to raise the price after a year.

The total taxes would be about the same with AT&T; but AT&T LD would be about $30, with some additional taxes not listed, and AT&T local would be about $24.95, plus the listed taxes. So $55 plus taxes v. $19.98 plus taxes for Fusion.

AT&T ADSL, I believe, is up to $38 now, for 3008/512 (was $33 when we got our final $103.nn AT&T bill for March-April, 2011), v. $19.97 for Sonic.net.

The DNS fee won't apply to DSLX, unless they offer that service, and you sign up.

The modem rental fee probably doesn't apply to DSLX; AFAIK, they don't charge for their equipment.

My mother's bill is similar, less the modem rental fee (Sonic.net did not apply the rental fee to existing accounts with purchased modems.

So I checked with Billing about this. Turns out the $39.95 price is indeed a first-year price, going up to $44.95/mo. after the first year. We're still negotiating with Sonic trying to get a cheaper price for renewals after the first year.

Huh. Wasn't aware of that myself, before now. Guess you really do learn something every day. I'll definitely let you guys know about any updates on this as I get them.

Oh, and no monthly modem fee.
