LinklistPremium join:2002-03-03 Longport, NJ kudos:5 1 edit | Smartphones need bigger batteries; not bigger screens The cellphone makers need to end the bigger screens are better; thinner is better trend; and start thinking about a bigger battery is better. I have been checking out smartphones as I get ready to switch carriers and get a new phone in a couple months. And one of my key criteria is a phone with a battery in the 3000 mAh range that allows a smartphone to keep all its features(GPS, Bluetooth, 4G radio, etc) active and still last all day without recharging. So far the Motorola Doid Razr Maxx HD is the leading candidate with a 3300 mAh battery and according to reviews approx a 9.5 hr life running the whole time on LTE. »hothardware.com/Reviews/Motorola···-Review/
I haven't seen any info yet on S4 battery size or time on recharging, but I hope it is close to the Droid Maxx HD. -- Senate - get off your butts and actually create a budget that has spending cuts 3x the amount of tax increases like you promised.

A full charge will last me all day. The only thing that will prevent a full day of usage is if I turn on GPS navigation or watch lots of videos. |

Mugen Power batteries work rather well. I've used them for years. It does make the phone thicker, though. |

 | reply to Maxo I'm on SG3 and can barely use it with one hand. Samsung already has a big phone, the Note. They should keep Galaxy series as a one handed phone and target 2 day battery life. The Note is there for those who want a bigger screen. Odd that they target 2 big phones and ignore those who want a one-handed high end phone.
I'll check out the SG4 but might switch to HTC if I can't use it with one hand. |

Markie join:2003-07-26 Kalispell, MT | How is that not ignoring people? Hands are different they're ignoring the people who can't use it one handed. I have a Nexus 4 and I love it but its just TOO big... |

CheesePremium join:2003-10-26 Naples, FL kudos:1 | How IS it? They make different size phones. Not that hard to grasp. |
|
 | reply to Cheese My hands are bigger than average (long piano playing type fingers). On several Android forums, many others have the same complaints that Samsung should have a one handed phone and not 2 big ones.
By one handed, meaning to reach the far corner of screen with thumb, not just about holding it. Many have talked about it, is not just me. |

| reply to xenophon Exactly. As much as I want to upgrade from my Galaxy Nexus to something with a bit more ram, I honestly just can't fathom using a much larger phone. I have pretty big hands too, and I think it'd be possible, but honestly I'm probably going to just wait until December for the next Nexus phone.
I would have a Nexus 4, but no Verizon version |

 | reply to Cheese A whole day of battery life is still pathetic. I'm looking for 2 or 3 days of battery life with active use, not just sitting there on standby. I don't want to be tethered to a phone charger all the time just because I have the audacity to actually use my phone.
The best possible battery life I can get is 2 full days with active use from my iPhone 5, but only under unrealistic settings: - In an area with excellent cellular reception. I'm on Sprint, so this pretty much never happens in the real world. - WiFi on and used for data, BT off. Start using data via Sprint and battery starts draining faster.
In real world use I have to charge my phone every night. I miss the days of my LG flip phone where it could go a week before needing a charge. -- less talk, more music |

Thus the phone is still the same size. Samsung could make a 6 inch Note without having to make the phone any larger than a Note 2 simply by reducing the bezel. |

Kind of explains why it lasted a week. No wi-fi, no GPS, no real data use to speak of. |

 | reply to BF69 Yeah understood, but the screen is a bit larger. It's not about holding in hand, using a phone one handed is about reaching the entire screen with thumb. Samsung can do what they want, many of us are just surprised they have 2 big phones instead of one big for those who want that and another high end that is easier to use with one hand. I'll check it out but if I can't use SG4 with one hand, may switch to HTC. |

Are you seriously trying to argue this? |
|
 | Not an argument, just surprised Samsung's 2 high end phones are big, instead of 1 big for those who want that and 1 that can be used with one hand. And it has been discussed on other Android forums. |

CheesePremium join:2003-10-26 Naples, FL kudos:1 | Again, maybe you aren't understanding? They have OTHER phones that aren't that BIG. Regardless of the "2 big phones"... |
