Firmware:There's an old thread here regarding firmware updates for the P660 modems.
I just got my first Zyxel from EL and went to the Zyxel website for firmware. Mine shipped with V3.40(AHC.4) | 12/08/2006.
The current version on the website is 2(?) versions newer than previously discussed.

1.[Feature Enhance]Add IPoA feature requests for France.
- Add the dynamic address in RFC1483 router mode to configure it via both GUI and CLL.
Anyone have experience with the newer firmware yet?
Locked Out?:My invoice showed that the modem was a refurb. It looked pristine. The problem? The password had been changed from the default 1234.
A paperclip in the reset hole in the back held until the power led flashed reset the factory defaults, including the password.
It of course also killed any configuration for Earthlink so beware.
Bridge Mode (yes the question again):I've been told that the P660R-D1 doesn't require bridge mode (like some of Earthlink's other modems) to work with my router (Linksys E3200). Still I couldn't see a reason to have the modem do the PPPoE work either.
Are there plus and minuses to having the modem in bridge mode? What about possible PPPoA?
I figure since you can't connect to the modem via the router without rewiring, bridge mode would give me better control of my network.
IP Address?:I was told that I needed to change the IP address on my router to play nicely with the Zyxel since both use 192.168.1.1. That would have meant reconfiguring the router my PCs and smart devices, I opted to change the IP on the modem instead. Any reason I shouldn't?
Heck, does the router even see the IP address once the modem has been set to bridge mode or is that only for logging into the modem at this point?
Other settings?:Since my Zyxel now has factory settings should there been anything I should change for security or performance from the defaults?
I did know enough to set the VPI/VCI to 0/35. Dunno about anything beyond that.
