Tipping at the lumber yard?Never been to this yard and will likely be my only trip ever. Need 30 (2x6x20 $24/ea) deck boards & a few 14' boards $10/ea.
Thinking of tipping the yard guy who helps load since the deck boards need to look good on one side and be fairly straight.
Good idea? |

Not necessary. In fact, the employer may have some prohibition against it.
A sincere 'thanks for the help...much appreciated' will be sufficient. |

You if you want to. I know at Home depot and Lowes they are not required to help but some will if the are not very busy. I gave a worker $10.00 when he helped me load 40 concrete pavers Just to add another 10 pages of do tip or not. The simple answer is if you want to. |

Not needed, besides the boards that are not to your liking can easily be returned. |

Whenever I get lumber over $100 I have them delivered at no charge by my lumberyard. I just order like 10-15% extra lumber so that I know I'll have enough good stuff then call them and schedule them to pick up the left overs and credit me.
Tipping is prohibited with my local lumberyard. If an employee accepts a tip they can lose their job. |
