i'd like to upgrade to 50/10 when it comes out but my line can barely handle it. i live within 500m (on foot) of the two remotes I know of around here. given that relative distance, i'm thinking very few people will qualify for this. i live in a suburb with remotes being established here for a couple years now.

Your line wont handle it, the actual sync (payload rate) is 53944/11320.

Bell does have a few profiles in between, so you may be able to get something around 45-ish perhaps, while paying for 50.

Does bell.ca say you can get 50/10? I'm wondering if bell is saying any line that can get over 25 qualifies for "up to" 50 or if the qualification tool is accurate for 50/10.

"Actual speeds will vary depending on the distance between the customer’s modem and switching equipment from Bell : min. 46 Mbps and max. 50 Mbps down speeds; Min. 9 Mbps and max.10 Mbps up speeds.

i'd rather 2x 25/10 mlppp, it's only about another $30/month after the price drops and the DSL modem purchases are on.

Even assuming the modem purchase, assuming you have home phone, band B:

50/10: $59.99 plus tax
2x25/10: $44.99 + $44.99 + $4 + $9.10 = $103.08

$43.09 extra

The prices are different in Ontario, but the amount extra should work out the same. Although speaking as a ratio that makes the MLPPP option even more expensive relative to the 50 meg service... For Ontario, 2x25 costs almost twice as much as 1x50.

or about $33.09 difference in Ontario (25mbit will be $5 cheaper x2)

Ontario difference:

50 meg: 54.99
25x2: 39.99*2 + 4 + 9.10 = 93.08

Difference: 38.09

There is little reason to pay so much more unless you want the larger upstream.

reasons why:
upstrem is doubled
300gb is doubled to 600gb
geekiness factor increase exponentially
1500 byte mtu is an option again (fixes some IPsec speed issues)
50mbit not available here, even when it becomes, my line stats are not sufficient for it

Will I be able to get 50/10? From the info below, I guess so. Also what does the "G.Hs Estimated Near End Loop Length" mean? 87 feet seems kind of short.. particularly when compared to the estimated loop length?

You can get it no problem with those stats. Also you're already on a 7330 remote which means you'll be able to use a modem other than the sagemcom or cellpipe.

you should be able to get 50/10 no problem.

The VDSL Estimated Loop Length : 1151 ft is what you're really looking at. That's about 350 meters - easily will handle the 50Mbps service.

It does actually estimate the downstream attainable for you:

Downstream attainable payload rate: 87212 kbps
Downstream attainable line rate: 98292 kbps

85 Mbps attainable downstream rate.

Hmmm 2x 50 MLPPP possible? I think I might try that if it can be done.

It's possible but you'd need a router that handled MLPPP with enough CPU power to handle 50/20.

Also, the MLPPP setup has some downsides. Lower MTU and packet loss problems, as well as the loss of your link status if a single link fails.

If it's available to you the 150/10 cable service is a better bet.

Im in cogeco land ='( Hmm I was thinking about using pfsense.

Or maybe just grab a 50/10 DSL line with my existing 60/2 cable and use connectify hotspot.

Currently using it with a 14Mbps wimax type connection and 60/2 start. But I dont know how reliable this is as I havent used it for extended periods.

What part of the output did you base the 7330 on?

Line Type: 0x04000000 VDSL2 Profile 17A

The Lucent Stingers are limited to Profile 12A. The 7330's can do 17A and possibly higher.

12A is limited to 68mbps, while 17A is 100mbps.

Hello,
Can you please tell my how you found this information? Did you use a program?

Bell.ca website says I can only qualify for the 25 mbps but when I called Bell, the rep told me that I can get 50 mbps only if i order fibe tv with it.
Don't know if what she told me is accurate.

Thanks

Those are stats from a vdsl modem.
You have to have the service.
I would phone TekSavvy and ask them if you can get 50/10.

Ty for the tip.

On a fairly unrelated note, I provided that output to teksavvy and they increased my line from 7mb to 10mb in less than 24 hours. for those of you wanting to get those stats from a sagemcom modem, google 'superikanos'.
