 | [LA] Digital tv and modem If I ever upgrade to digital, could it interfere with my cable modem's power levels? My levels are +5 to 7 at this moment. Will cox ever offer basic digital cable? I want digital, but I don't want to be bothered with a set top box. Price isn't the issue.
Will a inline noise filter at radio shack reduce some of the analog tv noise I'm having? If I try one, it will be placed after the modem and before the tv. |

Then pickup a Digital TV, TiVO or some other type of cable card compatible receiver.
I have been using this for a few years now, and it works great. »www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun/atsc/
I can watch TV on any PC, Laptop, or iPad in my house.
I also built a set-top for my TV with a Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC. It's cheap and works great with no subscription fees.

How did you determine if your noise is from "analog TV"? Without a DSAM or spectrum analyzer - both of which are pretty pricey pieces of equipment that the average home owner would not have - you can't be sure that there is even noise and if so, exactly where it is coming from. You can infer it from the modems behavior and logs but you can be certain the issue isn't elsewhere.
Any filter you get from a toy store like RS is probably not going to be configured to specifically filter out whatever noise you think you are getting...there is no universal filter. |

 | Since I bought my new LED Panasonic LCD, digital channels have look spectacular, but analog has a lot of background fuzz. Could my new TV be more senstive than my old one? |

You have to multiply an analog signal by almost 10 to fill all the pixels on a 1080P tv.
That is gonna make it look like crap! |
