London PPPoE outage this morning

Bell DSL went out at 5:30 am this morning at $home, and after several modem cold-restarts (even a 15-minute shut-down) I was getting nowhere. Web interface was saying "PPPoe LCP negotiation fail" - had never seen that before.

Drove a short distance to $Dayjob - and DSL (ISP = TekSavvy) is also out there (?!). Called TS tech support, did 15-minute HPR (hard port reset) and it didn't help. Tech did confirm several up-and-down episodes on the modem happening between 3 and 5 am. During the call, PPPoE must have authenticated because I'm now back on line (here at $dayjob) and can type in this post.

No explanation from Bell. I theorize it has something to do with the world ice skating championships being held here this week...

Can any Bell techs here explain this outage?

Authentication issue out of Hyde park CO. As for what happened, unsure. They are working diligently to fix it.

Re: London PPPoE outage this morning

Happened again - just now (from 00:15 to 01:00). LCP negotiation and PPPoE server access errors. They must have changed some equipment.
