[OK] 4 Upload Channels Now Live in Tulsa, OK

Last night at about 1am my modem went offline. I called Cox to see if it was an isolated incident and there was a recorded message that they were performing routine maintenance. When I woke up this morning everything was back online. I ran a quick SpeedTest and noticed that my upload speeds had increased from roughly 500KB/s to 2,000KB/s. No change on my download speeds (2,000KB/s).

I checked the modem status page (Cisco 3010) and noticed that I'm now bonding 4 upload channels. As of yesterday, I was only bonding 1. I now have 8 downstream channels and 4 upstream.

Is anyone else in Tulsa, OK noticing this as well? I was hoping that the change would increase my download speeds like it has in some of the other markets, but so far it hasn't.

8 'n' 4 has been active in Tulsa for some time. I don't think it would necessarily increase your speed.

Actually, this is new for me too. I have been in Tulsa with Ultimate now since day 1 and have never had more than 1 upstream channel. Now I do! Thanks for the heads-up, OP!

By the way, I'm at 91st/Memorial. Again, never had more than 1 upstream until now!

If they do like they have done in the past. You should be getting a speed increase hopefully soon. Since they turned on more upstream channels.

Location location location, they don't flip a switch and turn on channel bonding in all areas the same night.

Yes channel bonding will increase your speeds.

some cases the provider does! In North Texas Time Warner Cable just configured the CMTS's to upstream bonding and at first you had to reboot the device to get upstream bonding and then they sent out a global reboot of the modems that gave everyone in the area with DOCSIS 3.0 modems channel bonding. TWC had already activated 4 upstream channels on each node just that they were not bonded.

My speed was limited by my tier level before bonding and is still limited by my tier level after bonding.

True of my download speed (now that I, after an outage this evening, find myself with 8x4 bonding). No change.

However, my upload speeds went from 6mb/s to about 20mb/s
