 | [FiOS] No Static IP's available for home users I contacted Frontier Communications in order to obtain a static IP for my FIOS. I was informed that Frontier Communications does not make a static available for home users. I am currently using the 35 megabit download for $60 a month (which I feel is very reasonable). However when it became useful for me to obtain a static IP so that I could access my computer via VPN, I was told that I would have to switch to a business account (for a minimum of $159 a month) needless to say that if you think you will ever need a static IP, look at any other company but Frontier.. Comcast would provide this simple setting for $5 a month. Frontier wants the equivalent of $100 a month. I was given the usual lecture about my two year contract, and if I leave I am obligated to pay $200 to exit my contract. |

This type of service will allow you to do most anything that can be done with a static public ip. |

I've been using such a service for a long time (8 years or so?) -- ♬ Dragon of good fortune struggles with the trickster Fox ♬ |

So far as Comcast has ever told me, static IP addresses are only available on a Comcast business account. Comcast's social media team confirms this with several posts around the Internet. I know that bashing on Frontier has become a national pastime but at least beat them up for a real reason. Outside of regional, niche providers, I haven't seen an ISP offer static IPv4 addresses to residential circuits for about 8 years. (We did kind of run out of IPv4 addresses, as an aside.) |

Good luck with that search. They might exist, but they are going to be few and far between. I don't think any major ISPs offer static IPs with residential accounts. |

Re: [FiOS] No Static IP's available for home users Really isn't much that can be done with a static ip that cannot be done with a dynamic ip. Ports not being blocked would be more useful. |

I have asked her check her billing to see if she is being charged for Business Class, or an additional fee for the static IP on her consumer account. I'll post back once she reviews her bill. |
