#1 If your Westell has only has one RJ-45 port, then the answer is no.

#2 If your Westell has four RJ-45 LAN ports and one of them is labeled as the Uplink or Versa Port and your modem is either:

a) Not a cable modem combo (cable modem and router all in one)...

OR

b) (If a cable modem combo) Can be setup not to handle the public IP (usually called bridge mode)..

..Then the answer is yes.

*****************

#1 If number two a or b is true: I point to

#2 and then click on Documentation / User Guide.

#3 In the user's guide / manual read the following page(s):

a) From 6 to 12, 15, from 31 to 34, from 44 to 47 (if on a Mac), 48, 74, from 89 to 94.

#4 Also in the user's guide / manual: Ignore the requirement for DSL and micro filers.

If your Westell has four RJ-45 LAN ports and you have a cable modem combo that can not be setup so that it does not handle the public IP, then the answer is yes but a different way from the above directions:

#1 You need to find the DHCP Range of your cable modem combo.

#2 You need to make sure the DHCP Range does not occupy the whole subnet.

#3 If it does, you need to make it smaller.

For example if the cable modem router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1, the Starting IP Address is 192.168.1.2, and the Ending IP Address is 192.168.1.254, you could make the Starting IP Address 192.168.1.100

#4 In the Westell:

a) Follow the directions as listed at »Verizon Online DSL FAQ »How do I use a router with the Westell 6100?

AND

b) Make sure to change the LAN IP of the Westell so that it is outside of the DHCP Range of your Cable Modem Combo.

For example if the cable modem router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1, the Starting IP Address is 192.168.1.100 and the Ending IP Address is 192.168.1.254, you could make the Westell's LAN IP 192.168.1.2
