 VentShop join:2009-08-21 Oklahoma City, OK | reply to ajwees41 Most if not all cable systems will force you to use their hardware for all ondemand services. A couple reasons for this is it limits your ability to export HD content to other devices and it makes them more money in the long run.
A HD box likely runs them 50 to 100 with bulk purchases and are paid off within a year of service. If you use your TIVO box they can not make that money and because TIVO has a lot of open source work arounds they have a fear that should you be a person who has the setup and ability you could then record the streamed content and broadcast it through the net or plain keep it indefinitely which would also hurt their bottom line.
It's all about money and they will do every thing they can to keep milking subscribers for it. |

 | Comcast already allows it in some areas and Cox has said it was coming way back in 2009-2010, but there have been updates from Cox lately. |

 | maybe they ended up suing Tivo or some other reason. This is the only thing have have announced and not even launched anywhere. At least with wireless they tried to make a go at it. |
