Re: March 16th 2013 OUTAGES

Back up for me too in Orleans.
A number of posts ago there was mention of there being SLA with users. That could very well be true - I don't remember ever reading one.. That said, I'm sure that TekSavvy has its own SLA with Rogers.. Perhaps that could be leveraged to ensure our downtime is kept to a reasonable level.

They don't have an SLA with Rogers, Bell or any other incumbent. Everything is best effort.

Over thank god.... Now I'm gonna call customer service and see if I can get them to write me a cheque for 2000 bucks to compensate for those 3 missed client calls.

That's not what I said ..... I was responding to one customer that had potentially lost income as a result of the outage as he uses VOIP for his phone and obviously works from home.

What I said was that their are business plans that offer SLA's and potentially compensation for outages like this and that of course such plans are expensive.

Never implied that Teksavvy had an actual SLA with us users .....

Same here in Oakville on 25 meg VDSL. Get IP address but about 50% packet loss. This appears to be a new issue unrelated to the other ones.

I've tried powercycling with no luck. Here is a fresh copy of my system log after clearing it and power cycling it.

Called CSR to teksavvy, asked me tryed every thing still no internet, DSL is active, but can not log in. Ontario, Oakville. Still wait for update.

I was told by teksupport that it was noise on my line. I've been fucking with this for 4 hours changing cables, sourcing modems to swap out "because if you don't and the problem is in your house, you will be charged $87.87 fee".

Then I check this thread and see additional issues popping up?

FUCK THAT.

If this problem is not in my house I will be cancelling my service.

I don't care that my residential Internet is down for a few hours, but when teksupport insists it is in my house and I waste my valuable time tracking down non-existant issues I have had enough.

Get your shit together!

Bell told me nothing and there is still no update. Getting pretty tired of this. Looks like I won't be getting any work done today.

Hello,

Would you be able to PM me your details or post in the »TekSavvy Direct forum so we can look into this.

Can you confirm if you do have signal to your modem at this time?

Thanks,
Martin

Any chance of getting an update? What seems to be the issue? Anything at all?

At around 7:00pm this evening, I contacted Bell for an ETA on the Oakville DSL issue and they told me to try my connection again in 4 to 5 hours! This does seem like a severe issue as it is impacting all Oakville DSL users including VDSL regardless of their ISP. It is also impacting Bell Fibe TV as well.

I feel your pain. Unfortunately this problem is not unique to TekSavvy. I once went through three front line techs at Telus, and eventually convinced them to dispatch a tech. The tech spent an hour here, called his tech support, and then discovered there was a widespread outage.

I have no idea what 1.5-2 hours of phone and chat techs plus at least one hour of onsite tech costs, but I'm guessing Telus didn't make any money off me that month.

Thanks, but at the time you posted this I had already given up.

Having this many people down in a specific region was too much of a coincidence to waste further time on resolving this issue.

Sure enough, it was teksavvy's issue and not mine.

Thanks to all the non-TSI posts in this thread re: Halton.

You assisted me more than teksupport.

While it's a great thing to have TSI reps get back to you so quickly via Twitter, forums, etc. It means nothing if TSI doesn't have the correct information.
