Re: March 16th 2013 OUTAGES

Any chance of getting an update? What seems to be the issue? Anything at all?

At around 7:00pm this evening, I contacted Bell for an ETA on the Oakville DSL issue and they told me to try my connection again in 4 to 5 hours! This does seem like a severe issue as it is impacting all Oakville DSL users including VDSL regardless of their ISP. It is also impacting Bell Fibe TV as well.

I don't care that my residential Internet is down for a few hours, but when teksupport insists it is in my house and I waste my valuable time tracking down non-existant issues I have had enough.

I feel your pain. Unfortunately this problem is not unique to TekSavvy. I once went through three front line techs at Telus, and eventually convinced them to dispatch a tech. The tech spent an hour here, called his tech support, and then discovered there was a widespread outage.

I have no idea what 1.5-2 hours of phone and chat techs plus at least one hour of onsite tech costs, but I'm guessing Telus didn't make any money off me that month.

Oakville DSL is back online and Bell updated their status page to reflect this.

Thanks, but at the time you posted this I had already given up.

Having this many people down in a specific region was too much of a coincidence to waste further time on resolving this issue.

Sure enough, it was teksavvy's issue and not mine.

Thanks to all the non-TSI posts in this thread re: Halton.

You assisted me more than teksupport.

While it's a great thing to have TSI reps get back to you so quickly via Twitter, forums, etc. It means nothing if TSI doesn't have the correct information.

I'm not sure why I wasn't affected, but I only had about 5% packet loss for a few hours in North Oakville. Strange. I wonder if it was affecting certain fibre loops and not others. It seems like none of the DSL subscribers in my area were down either.
