[FiOS] Have install times improved yet?

As the 8+ hour install and 2-week-out schedule just doesn't do it for me when Comcrap can manage to install on whatever day I want in an hour or less. I get it - there's more hardware with FIOS. But I expect them to do 95% of it outside of the home and within a day or so. Economy's tough, I don't expect people are spending money on such a luxury.

So my question is - have the install times improved any? Or no? If not I'll just stick it out with Comcrap for now.

Really your best bet is to call Frontier and ask. FWIW, my install only took 4-5 hours IIRC. I had a bit of a wait for the install date because I ordered it the minute it first became available in my area (was the first to get in my neighborhood too).

Problem is that they, unlike other reputable companies, don't believe in having staff on the weekends. I, like most reputable people, work full time and don't have any to spare to ask a question that really should not need to be answered - it's appalling that their website to this day STILL does not allow internet ordering of anything.

4-5 hours is way too long. It just shouldn't be that long IMO. I'll just suck it up with Comcrap and wait some more. Thanks.

Well that was 6 or 7 years ago -- I have no idea how long it takes now; it's not going to be much less than 4 hours I expect because as you noted in your first post, there's more hardware.

I don't know about where you work but I make my personal calls that need to be done during regular business hours during my lunch hour.

It depends. Just convinced a neighbor to go FIOS internet route, and helped with the scheduling and install questions. The install was 8-days out, which included bringing a fiber drop from street to the premises first. If the fiber was already there, it would be about 4 days (according to the CSR). Tech showed up on-time and installation took a little more than 2.5 hours, from start to finish. The neighbor is extremely happy!
