Mifi or usb modem with cradlepoint router and hotspot plan?

On the Hotspot plan they supply a mifi. I will be using a cradlepoint router as i need wired connections and a stronger wifi signal. Which provides a stronger connection to the cradlepoint....the mifi or a USB modem? Can i get a usb modem from millenicom on the hotspot plan?

Mcom doesn't have a usb modem for the hotspot plan but others have removed the sim from their hotspot and popped it into a usb modem with success, you would have to get the usb modem from someone other than mcom. I am not sure how this would work with cdma, but should work for the LTE. Hopefully someone who has done this will offer you more advice.

If your cradlepoint is a newer model (mbr95) it will have a feature called "Wan over Wifi" which will let the cradlepoint connect to the hotspot and then repeat that connection through the ethernet port and expand the wifi.

When dealing with these little hotspots I have been breaking out old dd-wrt routers to convert the wifi to ethernet... so if your cradlepoint is older you can always go that route. The downside is most dd-wrt hardware doesn't have the ability to be a wifi client AND serve wifi to other clients so you will end up with another wifi hotspot if you need to extend the wifi range with this config

Good luck!
