| [Other] Warranty covering my nexus 4 Hey guys.
Since this morning, i've been thinking seriously about the purchase i did at the Source.
I bought a brand new Nexus 4 there alongside getting a new contract. Everything went well up until he offered a warranty for the phone. First, He told me that he could cover for 70$ any kind of defect with my phone for 3 years, which means anything aside water damage, physical damage, etc. I declined that offer.
But then he goes on and offer me something called an "advanced" warranty, which for 120$, cover ANY kind of defect, including drops (in other words, physical damages) and water damage. On top of it, he told me that i could make them change the battery only once during the time of my warranty (but i read somewhere that the nexus's 4 battery is not removable?).
So to summarize the offer, 1 battery and water/physical/defect damage covered for 3 years, for 120$.
I was really happy to get my nexus that day so i kind of accepted without much thinking.
Now i'm wondering if i wasn't scammed. On my invoice, it says that i did pay for something that cost 120$, that starts on 14/03/2013 and ends on 14/03/2016.
But nowhere on the invoice itself is wrote what is covered or what the warranty is for. I'm a little worried about that... Should i?
All in all, could you guys recommend advice on what to do for now? Should i keep the warranty? Or get me refunded? I believe i have up to 14 days to get anything - including the contract - refunded to me. So i guess i could always just make them refund my warranty only to me.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your advices,

If you are wondering about the price... the 2 year squaretrade plan is $125 and has a $99 deductible so if the warranty is valid then you got a steal for 3 years with accidental.

I forgot to precise, i live in canada.
Here is a link to the store : »www.thesource.ca/
I'm not really wondering about the price, but more about what it covers. I doubt they have any flyer there as it is quite a small store.
And since i've read this, i'm worrying even more : »fabulouslyfrugirl.wordpress.com/···-part-1/ |

Appears to be for one of their plans.
To be honest they are pretty vague see section 7...
edit: also the post you referenced appears the author did not get the "plus" just the extended.
edit2: to be fair most extended plans are bunk... but accidental damage coverage I tend to like. I generally go with squaretrade as they seem to live up to their promise... but IF that accidental damage plan would end up giving you another nexus 4 or better you cannot beat the price for 3 years coverage. |

Nice find!
They are indeed vague as of section 7. It is unclear if they cover accidental damage or not. Furthermore, what do they consider to be "light damage" ? It always depend how your phone ends up hitting the floor and at what angle :/.
While it would be great to "really" have my phone covered during 3 years for accidental damage, i don't think i want to take the chance to get scammed for 120$ or a phone. Because let's say i end up dropping the phone and i can't use it anymore, what do i do if they don't replace it? I would be losing both the warranty's value and the nexus 4. |
