| Sterling Heights, MI: Trying for Blast Howdy- I currently have Performance Internet with an Arris EMTA TM402G for phone service too.
Decided to give Blast! a try. Got Comcast support via IM. Seemed to go smoothly. For $10 extra per month I can have Blast! speeds. They are sending me a new EMTA modem and I plan on sending back the old one.
Any idea what modem I will get? Anything to look out for as I activate it & try out the service? What are your experiences in my area with Blast! ? I'm in Sterling Heights, MI.
Thanks, C1K |

Blast is working fantastic for me in Sterling Heights. I burst up to 90mbps and haven't had any problems! No need to fret unless something goes seriously wrong with your installation. My true speeds are a little faster than they advertise - around 54mbps. |

| reply to Clocker1000 I'm not sure which model they will send...probably an Arris TM722G (D3, 4x4) or hopefully the newer TM822G (D3, 8x4).
At any rate, it will be a Docsis 3.0 eMTA.
As this sounds like a self-install, all you will need to do is go through their "walled-garden" when you hook up the new eMTA, or at worst, call in and have them provision it. I've done it both ways, either is easy.
If you are using a router, direct-cable your new eMTA to your computer to set it up initailly.
When hooking your router back up, re-boot your eMTA by depressing the modem's reset button in back (because it has battery back-up, you can't just turn it off/on again), then turn on your router so it picks up the new connection. -- Deeds, not words |

 | reply to Clocker1000 If I end up getting the Arris TG862, is there a way I can put it in bridge mode so I can use my own router? |

I got the speeds no problem on my 6120 when they launched a few weeks ago. (15 and Ryan) |

| reply to Clocker1000 Apparently my online chat session with customer service didn't result in my order being processed.
I called today to get a tracking number for the modem shipment and they had no record of my requested upgrade. So did it all over again on the phone today. Let's see how it goes. At least the lady who took care of me on the phone was really nice! |

Firmware Info | Signal Levels |
I got an Arris TM822G. It is not going so well with this upgrade so far.
Got the new modem. Initially would not activate online by itself. Comcast website said I needed to call Comcast. I called but got busy and had to hang up.
Tried about an hour later, and the self activation worked fine.
Now I am up and running, phone is working fine too. But I am getting the old Blast speeds. 25Mb Down and 3.5mb Up.
Called support. They indicated I did have the wrong firmware for the Blast Bumped speed but were unable to get the modem to take the new (correct) firmware. They had to send an email to the next level of tech support to have them look at it and they said they would contact me tomorrow.
Can you guys glean anything from my signal levels or firmware info attached? |
