 | BHTV for iPad updated Gary, this was done today, and from iTunes, the major points ;
- Interactive Programming Guide - Record programs to your DVR
All well and good, but I have 1 question and 2 suggestions.
QUESTION(S)
When I go look at the DVR, is shows I have one but NO PROGRAMS RECORDED? Wife has quite a few. Does that mean only programs that I set from the iPad to be recorded will appear on the list for the DVR? Was the prior recordings just not seen as they were from the set top box or is this just a situation that BH is separating iPad and Set top box recordings? Sort of a stop gap measure so 'we' don't circumvent whole house recording as one can using Apple TV or a TV cable play iPad content on a TV?
SUGGESTION
1) Interactive Program Guide (IPG) is sort of useless to me. Yes, I can see what is playing or will be playing. However all I can do is RECORD it. Why not allow a TAP to produce the same display but besides the RECORD button, on ones that are NOW on, a PLAY button?
2) Since the IPG can display FAVORITES, why can the main LIVE TV have the same options. I'd rather scroll my FAVORITES than the WHOLE list of stations.
I assume you were not involved in this design but can you please pass this on to those who were.
Thanks. -- Irv Spalten |

|
 | Yes, Gary I did... See SCREEN CAPTURES
First one above, when DVR1 is selected, the one in our bedroom is the ONLY one we have. It is almost FULL.
Second one, changed to the Video, iPad? Yeah, it has no DVR...
Third one, please NOTE all the missing data for programs running but starting before the first time listed, I'd call that a bug...
Fourth one, when I tap on any such as the one for 2:30PM and it is 2:34PM all I can do is RECORD. My suggestion is also have a PLAY and when selected SWITCH to it. That would truly make the guide Interactive, JUST like on a REAL TV! -- Irv Spalten |

From the program guide I can't click on a current program & view it on my iPad? I have to go back to the live TV tab & find the channel in order to view it?
One interface issue is the program guide is in numerical order of the channels on the system, and the live TV guide is in alphabetical order by channel name. It sure would simplify things if they were consistent (preferably in numerical order so like programming was grouped together). -- twitter.com/tgaume |

 | reply to ispalten Gary, did BHN use Beta Testers for this? I'd be glad to volunteer, I did that for the Easy Gadget app. -- Irv Spalten |

This has been discussed at length here and there will be no change to this. | reply to ispalten Just updated my app tonight for my android phone. I don't use it much but I put it through its paces. Unfortunately like the users above, I found that it was reading nothing from my homes dvr unit. In fact, a lot of things were non functional. On the home window I wanted to check out house hunters that was currently airing. Despite showing up in the guide, House Hunters nore HGTV would bring up any hits.
Also I found the app to be more unstable when using the Live TV station scroller. If I lingered too long on it, the app would stop responding with an out of memory error. Also while watching the HGTV show, I had to back out and re-enter live TV several times because the video feed stopped updating.
And then there is the parts of the app that SHOULD have worked, namely being able to go straight to a Live TV channel from the Guide. In fact there are so many stations now that the old scroller has GOT to go. There has got to be a better way. At MINIMUM we should be able to punch in the channel number. Frankly this app just keeps adding features no one wants, and is not adding in features people DO want.
/still waiting on that windows port. |

 | I have had similar issues on my iPad 3rd generation. We have 2 Dvr's in the house and the app shows them when selecting in the bottom left, however it does not seem to be able to communicate with them. In the DVR screen it shows no scheduled recordings, and when I use the new guide to pick a show to record it allows me to go through and confirm, and then pops up with a box "Error - We were not able to schedule this recording". |

|
 | I am using 6.1.3 |
|
 | reply to BHNtechXpert Gary, I was on 6.1.2 and since updated to 6.1.3 with no change.
I really have to ask WHO tested this? What was the update designed to do? I would call this a 'flawed' release, maybe even the wrong file was released?
Is there a better way to report problems and suggestions than here? -- Irv Spalten |

BHNtechXpertBHN StaffPremium,VIP join:2006-02-16 Saint Petersburg, FL kudos:74 | reply to WinstonFl I'm using 6.1.3 and it controls the DVR's just fine...does not change channels but you can schedule recordings at least on mine. Open a direct forums thread, include your IP so I can see what EQ you have and I'll probably call you as well....not sure on timing so don't expect it immediately. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. | reply to ispalten Since I did actually TRY to record anything, I decided to first POWER OFF the iPad. Then started BHTV. Went to the IPG and selected a program. Hit RECORD and after a few seconds it said it was saved. OK, now go to DVR and NOTHING will show?
Hmm, so I did it again... same thing, and it was saved again... but I can't see it scheduled...

 | reply to ispalten Since I scheduled a recording I can REPORT it DID record. I can view it on the TV. However, since doing that I can NOT even see anything when I select the DVD function on the iPad. I see it trying to connect to the DVR and eventually that stops and when it does I see a TOTALLY blank screen. Switching to the display it reports no DVR, going back, the attempt to connect and a blank screen. I mean fully blank too, not like what I posted above where it said no recordings, just blank, nothing...
It the app supposed to only show you what you can record with the IPG using the IPG and the show is then going to only available on the DVR that is connected to the box? Is the app supposed just allow you to RECORD (and possibly show you what the iPad did record and even possibly manage, like cancel it)? Is it NOT intended to be able to VIEW recorded programs, either ones the iPad initiated or programmed via the DVR? -- Irv Spalten |

======== NEW! DVR Control - Record, delete and edit your DVR recordings for your traditional TV. ========
No mention of playback. I get one out of three working I guess? Could it be my DVR box that is causing the problem? Not that it is that useful to me, I can't see when I'd think of using this since I have to be in MY home to use the app anyway? -- Irv Spalten |

Should I call Tech Support and report this? Is it Scientific Atlantic specific the problem? -- Irv Spalten |
