I have a charcoal BBQ and I've been dying to make filet mignons on the grill again, but in this snow?

I went to The Keg last week-end to indulge.

Lol, I know. It's just so inconvenient to start a charcoal BBQ in winter. If I had a propane BBQ like my father then it's a not brainer... how hard is it to press a button?

Charcoal is a bitch, but it's soooooo good.

Me too. Of course it's pretty close to my back door, but when there's a lot of snow I still need to shovel it.

what do you use for lighting the charcoal?
I found the chimney with newspaper is quite easy to get a good bed of coals started. But there definitely is more work between setting up and cleanup afterwards.

I use an electric heating element... I put the element in the chimney, pour the charcoal or brickets over the element, and once they're all glowing red hot I take out the element and off I go. It's, by far, the fastest method I've found. No dealing with paper, lighters, fluids, etc.

chimney started by newspaper is quick
Then dump them on the lower grate and good to go faster than gas.
