StGonzo join:2013-03-19 Chalmette, LA | [LA] Premier speeds at Ultimate price I recently upgraded to the Ultimate internet package and had issues from the get go. I was required to upgrade my modem to a DOCSIS 3.0 (Cisco DPC3010) because of compatibility issues. Speeds rarely got above 27mbps and thats with testing at off peak time with no router connected. I've contacted COX several times and they tell me my signals are normal (which I confirmed form the modem config page), so they reset the account several times and still no speed increase over Premier. They've tried to setup appointments but my schedule has not allowed for any. Is there anything else I can try before having to have a technician come out? I live in Chalmette, LA.
Thank you! |

StGonzo join:2013-03-19 Chalmette, LA | Nope. But a tech did come out to replace the modem about a month after I upgraded. |
|
 | reply to StGonzo what package are you paying for? like m8trix said ultimate requires a tech install. A D2 modem will not get Ultimate speeds. |

Hey Andrew, The Ultimate tier of internet does need a professional installation to verify signals and equipment. If that has been done already and its a service change back to Ultimate it should be able to be done just over the phone without the technician, but that is case by case. -Ed |

 | Ed was correct, everything I can find on it indicates the professional install requirement has not been removed. We have a few different internal documents about Ultimate, but the general gist of all of them is that "Professional install is the only option available to customers ordering the Ultimate Internet."
The installer has to verify your signals, verify equipment compatibility, and run a speed test if possible.
StGonzo, I'd appreciate it if you could email us at CoxHelp@Cox.com so we can straighten this out, and also see how we dropped the ball on your setup. Thanks! -- Kip K. Cox Communications Support Specialist |
