Comcast new speed?

KRON TV says Comcast in SF Bay Area speed is upgrade. But down here in Santa Clara county - the speed seems worse.

But no, we (California) haven't gotten the speed upgrades yet. I tend to reboot my modem once a month, but I may start doing it every week just to see if I notice a config change.

FWIW - I received the speed increase 3/19. I have Performance. I got an email today saying to reboot my modem. I'm in Alameda.

Shaper Detection Module.

Connected to server 80.239.168.215.

Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 5553 Kbps.
Downstream: 86692 Kbps.

The measurement will last for about 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 5413 Kbps.

Downstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 25349 Kbps.

I've received no such Email, but I'll go poke at things and follow up + edit this post to see if there's been any improvement.

Edit: yup, looks like a reboot picked up a TFTP config change. And not only that, but a firmware update too (SB_KOMODO_1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH). I can confirm I'm seeing an increase in speed in Mountain View.

Before reboot:

Mar 23 10:38:00 Device Model: Motorola SB6121 (hardware version 5.0)
Mar 23 10:38:00 Firmware: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.8-SCM01-NOSH (Aug 30 2012 15:35:46)
Mar 23 10:38:00 Boot Code: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Mar 23 10:38:00 Modem Uptime: 17 days 19h:23m:25s

After reboot:

Mar 23 10:45:38 Device Model: Motorola SB6121 (hardware version 5.0)
Mar 23 10:45:38 Firmware: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH (Oct 29 2012 18:07:13)
Mar 23 10:45:38 Boot Code: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Mar 23 10:45:38 Modem Uptime: 0 days 0h:2m:2s

Modem log confirms TFTP change:

Mar 23 2013 09:41:15 6-Notice E102.0 SW Download INIT - Via Config file d11_m_sb6121_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm

Have not checked to see if they left PowerBoost enabled or not (as supposedly with the speed upgrades they've been getting rid of it, which is fine by me).

I'm in Hercules, CA., and received a notice today that my BLAST speed was increased, but that I also need a new modem. Since I have a telephony modem (voice and internet), it has to be bought at Best Buy. The trouble is that Best Buy doesn't have any idea when they will be getting any of the modems in. Please let me know if you have any experience with getting a leased telephone modem from Comcast. Thanks

I just got an email announcing my speed has increased. but I need a new router before I see any increase. My G router is the limiting factor now.

Forgot to mention that I also upgraded my cable modem from a docsis 2.0 to docsis 3.0. I bought the modem at BestBuy in Emeryville, CA. Installed it myself and it worked like a charm - took about 30 minutes. Also ran the speed test at »www.speedtest.net/ with similar results.
