I had leaking from an upstairs bathroom. Luckily the downstairs bathroom was right below it. I found out on fixing it, there was/is a copper waste line that was doing the leaking. The plumber just replaced the leaking section. My dilemma is, should I just leave just whats been replaced, knowing the line could leak sometime in the future or should I open up the whole ceiling and replace the whole copper waste line? I would guess there is another 10ft of copper waste line. The house was built in sometime in the late 50s or early 60s.
There has been some other questionable previous home owner handy work done on the house. |

| The answer to your question depends on why it was leaking in the 1st place. If it was leaking at a joint, it was probably just a poorly, I would just close things up and not worry about it. On the other hand, if the pipe itself failed (through some type of corrosion) it's probably prudent to replace the rest of it. |

That means it's old enough to warrant replacement. If you have the money and time I would replace that run just to avoid having to open the ceiling up again. |
