Yes, in Windows 8 running a Task Manager requires elevation, what you see is normal. Kind of dumb, but thats the way it is.

You will not get that prompt unless another program were to launch it with the default settings, and by default only 3rd party software will trigger the uac prompt while on an admin.

Just a FYI, Running as a standard user I don't see a UAC request when I launch task manager (uac set to always notify for this standard user)
1. from CRTL+ALT+DEL menu
2. start8 run prompt
3. tifkam start screen (type to search)

Win8-64-pro, non UFEI bios

What is "/8 /Startup" ?

I've never heard of those qualifiers and I have never seen any inbuilt provision to run task manager at startup.

Mind you, I'm not running Windows 8.

The information described was sent to me via SMS from a relative.
Since I run windows 7 and not 8, I was quite surprised to see the message and I can't find a reference to the additional commands.

When I set up the laptop, I kept it the way it factory with UAC on high on purpose.
I have never seen the /8/Startup argument before.
