[modem/router] How to configure a non-Verizon DSL modem on Veriz

I'm tired of the slow speed and intermittent connectivity of my Verizon supplied Westell 327W, so I went out and bought a D-Link DSL-520B ADSL2+ modem and a Netgear R6300 router (802.11ac). In the process of installing the modem, I am presented with a couple of questions I can't answer (and neither will Verizon India):
Is the Verizon DSL protocol PPPoE, PPPoA, MER, Bridge or IPoA? Next I need to know the encapsulation that Verizon uses: LLC or VC-MUX.

Does anyone know? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

(I don't want to set up the existing bad modem in bridge mode, as Verizon suggests. I want to throw it in the recycling bin.)

Thanks!

verizon settings are as follows:

PPPoE (i suggest retrieving your login information for the old modem before throwing it away)
LLC

VPI: 0
VCI: 35

hope you have better luck with your new modem and router

The last gentleman was correct. You really need to make sure you get your user name and password from the old modem.
