[Rant] Suddenlink Phone Termination Fee??

So, I was chatting with a Suddenlink rep, was thinking about canceling the phone service as I never use it and is just taking up space basically.. The rep couldn't tell me if I was under 'contract' or not but if I was there could be a termination fee of $200 - $300 for the cancellation. WHAT?! This information was never disclosed to me that I was entering into any type of an agreement or contract when I added phone service to my internet account. What are they doing over there???

I don't think SL has any contracts at all, as far as service goes, and special deals.

The phone service is $25 for life if you bundle other services.

My understanding with the equipment, is most people rent it.

I highly doubt you are in any contract, or have any early termination fees.

All of this refers to residential service.

Not sure about suddenlink's intro rates if they have if so. Are you still in a introductory rate contract (which turns into regular menu/Bundled price at the end of a period of time) if so i think they may charge

Cox would have charged me a termination fee for the internet but in billing it was free internet for a year with 12 payments for the cable modem which was yours and they don't take it back (hence the early termination fee finishing off payments for the modem) but the cheap $20 a month turned into regular menu $40 after it was up.

For Phone
My bill it shows up as $31, i am assuming a $25 service + $6 MTA rental.

Wish i can get a listing of Regular Menu Prices for their services but apparently that is not available over the net (obviously since markets differ and prevents confusion when people look up incorrect market) AND surprisingly not available at the local office (phone tech said they would have it)

I have no problem with paying current rate, but I have been told we can save a couple bux by getting a cable box and throwing it in the closet, even "for a dollar more you can get the next level up on speed" and just curious if they are misinforming me. Because i couldn't get a straight answer through them.

I wonder if it can be treated like a Hospital stay. ALL Hospital Bills are Negotiable since hospitals do not have prices posted / or have printouts available upon request for certain services. (like a "Mucus recovery system" (nose tissues) cost $20 and they don't use the whole box but charge us the whole box and use the rest on somebody else to charge them.
