[DSL] Century Link 660 on Frontier DSL?

Can the Century Link 660 DSL modem/router be used on the Frontier system?

If so, what do I need to do to install it?

Thanks,

Russ

As far as I know any modem with work. Although you will need to ask frontier for their ppoe password and change a few settings

Yes any modem should connect, the only drawback to using a 3rd party modem is that Frontier can not support. You will need to use your PPPoe username and password to authenticate onto the network. If you do not know your UN/PW combination you can call into our help desk and one of our techs can get that info for you.
Again a third party modem should work but Frontier does not support it, if anything ever happened to your modem we can not cover it, if you loose the ability to browse the only thing we can trouble shoot is no dsl signal.
Feel free to call the help desk and obtain your username and password, we are open 24/7 so its never too late to call 1-800-239-4430.

Thanks for this info! I understand that Frontier cannot support a 3rd party modem. But I have to get this to work, and so far, the 7550 is just not working.

I have spent quite a bit of time on the line with Frontier tech support. They think that there is something wrong with my laptop, but I can't believe that, because my laptop works on every other network I have ever tried. I travel quite a bit and it works everywhere else. Right now I am using it on a Netgear wireless router in another location using Century Link ISP.

I know my Frontier UN/PW, so that's not an issue. I just didn't know it was called a 'PPPoE' UN/PW. I am not familiar with the terms.

Thanks!
