Dental ER in the Cleveland area?

My sister has severe tooth pain that began on Friday and called me yesterday to check to see if there was a dentist that would take her on an emergency basis to get the offending tooth pulled.

I called around and found a couple of private dental chains that were open on a Saturday. And of course, there's the dental clinic at MetroHealth Medical Center, but she says that that place is pretty nasty and there's a long wait to get seen by a dentist.

Are there any dental "ER" or "urgent care" places in the Cleveland, OH area that will see someone on a Saturday night or a Sunday for an emergency tooth extraction or a root canal? If it was a non-dental medical emergency, she could just simply drop into a nearby urgent care clinic or an ER if the problem is too serious for an urgent care place or she needs to go when the urgent care clinic is closed.

My sis decided to just take some percosets and Ambesol and tough it out till Monday morning .

I guess dental issues generally aren't viewed with the same urgency or seriousness that medical issues are... but it would really suck though if there's an infection and the infection gets into the blood stream .

Top tooth if I remember correctly. She had the adjacent tooth filled a few weeks ago but the dentist cracked the tooth next to it (the one that's hurting).

She does not have a regular dentist? That dentist should be available on an emergency basis...

I have never had a regular dentist that did not take emergencies or have a dentist that can take an emergency if they are out of town.

Though few dentist do root canals as well - endodontist usually do them now - usually. The emergency room might give her some antibiotics in case of an infection and give her some pain relief.

Her regular dentist is only open "select Saturdays" (not sure about yesterday or Saturday evenings... I'd highly doubt they'd be open evenings on the Saturdays they are open) and not on Sundays.

I have never seen a dentist that does not have a number to call in an emergency - has nothing to do with if the office is open or not. Hell - my EYE dr does the same thing - provides a number to call in an emergency.

If her Dr does not do this (and I highly doubt he does) then he needs to be dropped asap (like on Monday).

It would, seeing as how this place is available:

Look, I understand this place is "pretty nasty" and all that, but when you have any sort of medial problem above your neck, aesthetic considerations need to take second place to getting the problem seen to now, not "sometime next week."

Is there some way you can go there and wait with her to keep her company and help make the time go quicker? Maybe bring a Monopoly board with you and start up a game or something?

Yellow pages are your friend. In most major metro area, there will be a number of drop in dental clinics open on weekends. Generally not at night, but if a dental issue is so severe during the night, I'd go to my local hospital for at least pain releif.
