Please Delete. I Missed Topic On This Already- SorryI am just curious how you x-box fans feel about the new system going to be one that requires to always be connected online to play? Or the ability of not playing pre-owned games? "Furthermore, the XDK documentation states that the console will always maintain a network connection so that software and games are always current.» www.forbes.com/sites/jas ··· e-sales/» www.guardian.co.uk/techn ··· ed-gamesAnd sensor must be installed as well: Likewise, the new system reportedly will not operate unless a new high-fidelity Kinect Sensor is attached, which will reportedly be sold with the console, granting the new Xbox eerie Big Brother-like powers.» www.infowars.com/new-xbo ··· -on-you/ |

LOL at you getting your Xbox news from infowars. Do you honestly believe the Kinect camera will spy on you?
All that is fine by me. Forcing Kinect means developers won't have to account for people who do and don't have it. Kind of like how there's 360s out there without HDDs still, so devs can't assume that there will be one to use.
And I already use (and love) a platform that requires an internet connection and can't play used games. Steam is better than any console platform that's been developed so far, so anything closer to that is fine by me. It's not like I'm going to be taking a PS4 or new Xbox offline. It's going to be a permanent media device in my home theatre. Not having to worry about discs ever again will be sweet. |

I posted links other than infowars. You are a fool if you don't think that others aren't already planning on adopting the use of cameras to spy on people » www.businessinsider.com/ ··· -2012-12» www.nbcnews.com/technolo ··· C7446180» www.pcworld.com/article/ ··· ons.html |

It's just the end where you quoted infowars and started worrying about "big brother" that your whole post broke down. There's... nothing to indicate that Microsoft would do this with the Kinect. Forcing it to be connected isn't a sign that that's what would happen, it just means they want it to be available to use in every game without an extra variable. Do you think they're using the Kinect currently to spy on you? |

Neither. I just have never had a desire, want or need to own an xbox. I always have preferred Nintendo instead. |

Do you think they're using the Kinect currently to spy on you? Your assuming Microsoft is 100% honest all the time and would NEVER do such a thing.....Microsoft are as honest as other men/women, and NOT moreso. If Microsoft "thinks" they can get away with spying on you with the Kinect, with no one finding out about it, they will do it. I assure you they will. We will have to wait for the new Xbox to come out though with its new EULA. If that new EULA has a clause stating the Kinect gathers certain type of information clause in it, and you agree to use it...then its a forgone conclusion it will be spying on you...even moreso if you never turn it off, and agree to that EULA agrees to consent the spying. |

Why haven't they done it already then? |

Why haven't they done it already then? Who's to say they haven't or are not already doing it? If your Xbox is on, and your Kinect is plugged in, and it has an internet connection....if your using it or not it could still be recording and watching you. The only way to be certain would be packet capture/Wireshark...but thats no good if they are using an encryption scheme on the phone homes back and forth....the only way one could prove for certain it is or isn't is with a valid packet capture over a period of time...but im sure the encryption may pose a problem...since if its encrypted you can't inspect the contents of those packets... The Kinect is a very advanced device, its much more then a camera it contains Facial Recognition Technology among other things, and I fully believe it can be turned on or off without a single light or anything showing up on the device itself that could possibly alert its turned on. This same reason is why i never leave a webcam or anything like that plugged into a computer...you have to assume someone could gain access to it at some point..its take me 2 sec to plug it in if i want to use it, otherwise its unplugged |
