The programming on NBC and ABC isn't worth that much anymore. I believe that NBC had one episode of one scripted show go over 10 million viewer this year, the massively promoted pilot episode of "Revolution".
In 2010 a financial analyst put values on NBC-Universal networks. The broadcast network got a valuation of less than zero.
NBC Network : -$600 million USA Network: $11.7 billion Syfy: $6.3 billion CNBC: $3.9 billion MSNBC: $2.9 billion Bravo: $2.6 billion |

 | reply to rcncares has there been any movement to get these networks on demand? this is so annoying....even the horrible time warner has them!!! |
|
 | reply to Heat99 @Heat99 - because some of us prefer to watch TV the way it was meant to be seen; on a LARGE screen.
CBS on Demand would be a life saver at this point...sports kills the Amazing Race and The Good Wife on the DVR. |

I am not sure I understand the reasoning of commercial television networks. Since they are selling number of viewers to companies that are advertising, it seems to me that they would release a show (scripted, reality or sports) at the same moment on every possible medium they could think of, computer websites, broadcast, video on demand, phone apps, etc. They would also make VOD available for free to cable companies. That way people who arrive 15 minutes to 24 hours late would watch the entire show, commercials and all. They act like the broadcast viewer is sacred, and the other delivery methods are stealing viewers. |

 | reply to Heat99 cuz when you have a nice big flat screen tv you want to watch it on there instead of some device or having to make connections to get it onto your television!! |
