Upload channels, why sometimes 2 and other times 3?

Why do some get 2 upload channels, while others get 3? Any why doesn't anyone seem to get 4? thanks

It depends on the market/area, available channels and equipment being used.

No one has 4 because no need for it yet plus they need to re-arrange frequencies to make proper room and some areas may need equipment changes.

So long as you get your speeds don't worry about it.
If you don't get your speeds call and complain so it's documented and hopefully they will look into and if need be upgrade the area.

Actually, if you look through all of the modem signal screen captures posted in Johkal's »[Signals] Evidence of Upstream Channel Bonding - Post Here stickied thread, while the the majority of the systems do just show having 2 or 3 upstream channels, there are a few systems that do have 4 upstream channels. See this previous thread: »4 Upstream Channels

Their engineering / capacity planning teams also determine how many carriers are actually needed to meet the capacity demands for any given local area. As stated, the upstream / return frequency spectrum has current limitations for the amount of carriers that it can spare.
