Autodesk Vault & IIS7

IIS verson screen

Server: Windows 2008 R2

I’m trying to set up access to a vault using Autodesk’s Vault Server to the outside world (I have access to it internally so I know it’s working). The Advanced Configuration Guide has a section called “Configuring a remote Vault connection using FQDN”. I have followed its instructions (even though they don’t work for IIS7, and I believe IIS7 uses the “Bindings” section to do this), and still I get the following error: “Bad Request - Invalid Hostname / HTTP Error 400. The request hostname is invalid.”.
Here is a step by step of what I have done:
1. Went to Godaddy and set up a subdomain called: vault.abellliftsystems.com that points to 70.43.191.18:2794
2. Opened port 2794 on the fire wall and pointed it to the server hosting Vault
3. Using slightly modified (because Autodesk’s don’t work) instructions, I set up IIS7
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

is it safe to assume that 70.43.191.18 is the IP of this machine?

try changing the bindings of vault to use the 70.43.191.18 address, and get rid of the other binding...

if you have logging enabled, try to access it a couple times and see what it is yelling about in
C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1\[latest date]

Do you have NAT in front of the vault server or does it have public IP on it?

If you have NAT, I would create binding *:2794, leave host name empty.

The way you created subdomain in godaddy, you can't use host header in IIS for it because it's a redirection, not a DNS entry.

Thanks, I think that worked!

Vault Error
Well... it got me closer, now I get this error but I think it is more of an Vault error.
