 | Charter Phone calls I have Charter Duo(Phone/HSI). It seems it is becoming weekly I get a call from Charter trying to talk me into adding TV. I don't like Charter Cable in Kalamazoo area. It costs more and looks like junk vs Direct TV. I have ask them not to call, that doesn't help. All the caller ID states is toll free number. Not answering toll free is not and option. |

1 edit | You should call 1-888-Get-Charter and ask to be put on Charter's Do Not Call list. And if you get a telemarketing call in the meantime, be sure they read the legal language, something like, Yes, I will do that for you. Let me verify your phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx. Please allow up to (x) number of days to get into our system. There's a chance you may be called in that time. After (x) days, Charter Communications will not contact you regarding new service or any other products available in your area. Thank you for your time, please call 1-888-Get-Charter with any questions about this call or other Charter services.
Since companies outsource campaigns, it can take up to 30 days to be entirely out of the systems. |

| Yes, it does apply quote: A person may still receive calls from companies with which he or she has an existing business relationship for up to 18 months after his or her last purchase, payment, or delivery from it, unless person specifically asks the company not to call again. »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do-Not-Cal···_of_2003

 | reply to mdavej An internal Do Not Call database is different from state or national Do Not Call. Most cable companies have an option under billing for Privacy All, meaning no phone calls, mailings, etc. You can choose just Do Not Call, if you want to still receive notice about promotions. I only have a cell phone, but I allow Charter to make calls. I've picked up some special offers, such as premium channels at a low price. N/A now since I only have internet. |

They get stubborn, but then I ask what do I have to say to never get another call. We just told them that if they called again that we would cancel all of our charter service.
That worked. |

Since companies outsource campaigns, it can take up to 30 days to be entirely out of the systems. as somebody who does this type of outsourced contrated calling, I can tell you that we have 30 days to fully remove you from our list according to telemarketing laws, but while they say it may take up to 24 hours to stop getting calls, its usually instant that your number is removed from the call list, and marked in the system for all call campaigns as a "dont call" number. |

it only applies if you ask them to quit calling, and many contracted calling companies are told by the contractee, that unless they specifically say "do not call me again", or "don't call me", or some form thereof(of a stop calling), you do not have to pull the from the list. If you say you are not interested, in this or future offers, your still on the list. Stay on, wait for confirmation that they submitted the number removal "request". |

That worked. You could have simply said "do not call this number with marketing requests anymore". Would have done the same thing. being an asshole to someone who is on the other end will not get you anywhere, and being polite and kind can usually get you more things than you asked for. I work for a contracted calling company, and we do things like this. Its a job, and I would rather not be doing it, but it pays $17 per hour for me to sit on my phone for 20 hours a week, and it pays the bills. Be nice, they are after all, a human, and they have no control over who the system dials and who picks up. |

1 edit | Your probably right, but the caller was an ass to begin with. I asked them not to call me, told them that I do not want any other service, but they kept on talking over me about having a land line and the benefits of emergency service calls. I tried to be nice at first, which is why I said they can be stubborn. The caller wasnt listening to me at all, so I had to cut them off. Perhaps I should have said that.
I also forgot to mention that I had asked them to never call me again the year before, they just start again whenever they like. |

 | reply to Chubbysumo I know how it works as well, since I have worked for outsourced calling in different capacities, including Quality Assurance. $17 an hour is unbelievable, I am moving to Superior! That's higher than most management jobs in my area. |

| its a work from home position, and i am the virtual call center manager. regular employees start at 15, and if you work in one of the local call centers in duluth, you start at 9.50. most of the work i get is campaign related, but we get a few oddball jobs here and there. |
|
 | reply to David3941 I have tried to be nice and say "No thank you, I am Happy with what I have". I have asked them NOT to call, I DO NOT WANT any other service. Nothing works, So now I just say Don't have a nice day and hang up. |
