Ok, Show of Hands. Which modem, the SB6141 or SB6180?

I need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, my trusty SB5101 doesn't cut it for Blast! service unfortunately. Can't seem to decide between the SB6141 or the SB6180

What say you?

The 6180 is not on their "Approved Modems List" so they may not provision it for service if they don't have a config file written for it.

I was also about to post that the SB6180 is not on Comcast's approved list »mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/

See also the discussion in this other current thread, that was started by someone else looking to update from an SB5101 model: »[Speed] Download not as expected after upgrade

If I remember, the 6180 is older, but as mentioned, has never been approved. Looking at Amazon, only used ones are available, so I don't think it's even in production anymore.

As others said, the 6180 isn't on the approved list. Save yourself a potential headache and go for the 6141. You'll be able to hook it up and forget about it for the next few years.

Or if you want to go slightly cheaper, but get a 8x4 modem all the same, this is another great model and brand: »www.amazon.com/Zoom-DOCS ··· le+modem
