Re: Replacement Window Costs said by 35245635:said by marigolds:Sure the homeowner could to that.... if they want to go to jail for an illegal tax declaration when the triennial inspection is done. Hardly. They have no idea what's legal or illegal so you can't hold them responsible for doing what they 'feel' is right. If you give them that option you can't then turn around and slap them for not knowing stuff. You either trust them or you don't. I've never seen or heard of any place that conveys trust to a home owner though. Can you link the city/county you speak about? I'd love to read about it. St Louis County. You file your appeal online here: »revenue.stlouisco.com/Assessment···eal.aspx Or return your assessment declaration of value postcard with the details you are contesting. You can also have your house details and value change by an informal conference with the assessor. »stlouisco.com/YourGovernment/Cou···ToAppeal
You declare changes to your vehicles here: »revenue.stlouisco.com/Collection···Dec.aspx
Business declarations are handled in this manner: »revenue.stlouisco.com/Assessment···aration/

"How can I appeal the assessed value of my real estate property?"
"Informal conferences provide an opportunity for single family residential property owners to review and correct information the Assessor has on their property record. You will be able to discuss the Assessor's opinion of value of your property, just like at the formal BOE hearing. You can provide information that supports your opinion of your property's value. Any supporting evidence or documentation must clearly represent current conditions."
You can try to convince the CITY to change stuff but that's how an APPEAL works. You can't change stuff as a home owner. -- "Everyone has his day and some days last longer than others." - Winston Churchill |

"How can I appeal the assessed value of my real estate property?" Like I said from the very beginning. "You just return your annual assessment card with a change in the number of bedrooms." (And notice there are declarations as well as appeals.)
The city maintains no master record of the property. The county maintains only an assessment record that does not contain details like number of code bedrooms. (The only thing actually in the assessment record here is the square footage of each structure and the number of rooms in each structure, regardless of whether or not they are to code.) You don't call anyone. No inspections are done to make the changes. Even if it goes all the way to the BOE, no inspections are done. -- ISCABBS - the oldest and largest BBS on the Internet telnet://bbs.iscabbs.com Professional Geographer Geographic Information Science researcher |

Back on topic: Rite Window isn't in NJ but they offer any size white double hung windows for $389 installed. Just an idea on price. »www.ritewindow.com/ -- "Everyone has his day and some days last longer than others." - Winston Churchill |
