[HSI] Still waiting after 10 years

When we first bought this house, Charter had told us that it would be a few weeks till they could run the lines on this side of the neighborhood. The lines stopped 3 houses down each way.

We were then told 3 years.

10 years later and we are still waiting. Had a tech guy come double check it for us and the situation is indeed still the same. We are also too far away each way to tap into the boxes as well...400 yards one way, 500 the other. (Yet our neighbor has Charter because he "knew a guy"...it's under investigation now.)

We since went with Dish for TV and it's been great, but this AT&T service is terrible for internet. VERY limited.

Needless to say we're pretty frustrated with Charter's 10 years worth of empty promises of getting lines down here and wondering if it's EVER going to happen. I'm pretty sure those who share this very small "dead zone" would like the opportunity for high speed internet and/or charter cable as well.

Yeah,
That's an option that someone can just up and do in a minute!!

How come you haven't moved with that lousy service you've been complaining about for a while now? At least OP isn't just handing Charter money for something they AREN'T getting!!

Not being a smart a** but that's about the same logic.

Reminds me of that awful TV commercial Charter had on about 4 or 5 years ago . There as a teenager being an pest. She is in her room on the internet and the line she says is "Just a few more years". Meaning that she would be moving out of the house in a few more years.

I can't find it on the web though. LOL

Excuse me? How do you know if I am not doing something about it? I don't piss and moan with every single post about it every day. 10 years as I said. If they don't have it by now. It will most likely never happen. And if they are that hard up wanting it. Move. It is most likely the only way they will get it. What I do with my money is not your business rather I "hand" it to them or not. I need the service and when it works. It works great. Up time especially. Very rare to have any kind of outage. It is only dealing with the slow evenings that are the issue atm. Some times you really have smart remarks rather you know it or not. 99% of the time I just ignore them. But, for some reason tonight. I found you irritating with that post.

Oh trust me, I can't WAIT to move! Just in a position where I can't atm. Was just hoping for an explanation on why we got screwed and lied to. Or if anyone else had any similar experiences. They TRIED charging us cause we still had the boxes..when we were still waiting for them to build under empty promises.

Although not a strictly Charter practice....it certainly doesn't surprise me that they suddenly remember about the old cable boxes you had from a decade ago and charge you for them.

ANYTIME you hold a providers equipment and want to cancel service (even IF they gave you the equipment and claimed it was FREE) YOU MUST CONTACT THEM and find out about how you can return the items to them, the best bet for cable providers is to walk into the local office and have them print you out a receipt showing that they were returned. NEVER throw out ANY of their equipment..EVEN IF some CSR claims you can. Most likely they have a policy that requires the return of any and all equipment when service is cancelled.

If you ship something back MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN OFFICIAL RECEIPT FROM THE SHIPPING COMPANY THAT CLEARLY LISTS WHAT YOU SENT and where it was sent. ALSO HOLD ONTO A COPY OF THE SERIAL NUMBER ATTACHED TO THE EQUIPMENT!
