Master Power

To turn my TV and cable box on right now, I must select 'TV' and then press power and then select 'CBL' and press power on the remote. Is there a way to program the remote to automatically power on both devices? When I had Comcast cable, it would automatically cycle through the devices including my stereo receiver. It's not a big deal but an annoyance nonetheless.

Thanks,
FredP

yes, which remote do you have?

edit, im going to assume you have one of the atlas remotes, here are the instructions

1.On the remote control, press and hold Setup until a device key (such as CBL or AUX) blinks twice.
2.Enter 995. The device key will blink twice again.
3.Press PWR.
4.Press the device key for the first device you want in the power-on sequence, then press PWR.
5.Repeat this step for the second device you want in the sequence, again pressing the device key then PWR. You can repeat this step for up to 5 total devices.
•For example, to turn on the converter, then the television, then the DVD player, you would press the following sequence:
◦CBL, PWR, TV, PWR, DVD, PWR
6.After adding all desired devices to the sequence, press CBL once.
7.Press and hold Setup until CBL blinks twice.
To use the master power key:
1.Press CBL.
2.Press PWR. The devices will turn on and off in the order they were programmed.
To clear the master power key sequence:
1.Press and hold Setup until a device key blinks twice.
2.Enter 995. The device key will blink twice again.
3.Press PWR.
4.Press and hold Setup until CBL blinks twice. The sequence will now be erased.

This should probably be made a sticky... My older remotes had these instructions in it. When a button got stuck and we exchanged it the new one DID NOT have these same instructions in it. I 'assumed' that it wouldn't work like that and called in. Tech fumbled through the same booklet I was looking at and it wasn't there. He found an old one and we tried it and it worked. So since it is missing, might be good to keep here as others might have the same problem/question.

My TV is older but I have programmed the controller and I can observe both lights when I push power, first the Cable box and then the TV. Those lights last less than a second. My TV needs a full 2 seconds for it to turn on, it just does not react to that short burst. Assume I cannot lengthen the TV turn on signal?? Turn off works normal.

There may be multiple codes for the same TV MFR. I suggest you try them all as the duration of the IR blast is often controlled differently for each code option.
