[HSI] Billing isues

Has anyone else had billing issues with Charter? I just switched to Charter's HSI and it took them quite awhile to get any account info to me (by mail). When I did receive my first statement it showed $29.99 for HSI and $29.99 for install charge with a due date of 3/23.
No problem I'll pay it on 21st or 22nd when I get paid but not to long after getting my first statement I get another dated the 3/17 saying my account is overdue and another $29.99 for a total of $89.97 due by 4/10. Thinking 'wtf', I log in to my charter account and setup auto pay immediately. After setting up auto pay, it tells me to keep paying my bill until it shows autopay on my bill. OK, go to pay my bill on line, it tells me not to because autopay is setup. So now today 3/25 I get a final notice in the mail to pay now or my service will be disconnected. Seriously? I went back to my account online and ignored the autopay warning and just paid it anyways.
I understand I have to pay the money I owe them, no problem, but I schedule out all my bills based on their due dates. Charter not going by their own due dates really screws my stuff up.

Don't know what caused the delay, but they apparently failed to bill you for the month in advance on the first billing, and the "corrected" bill instituted these non-pay messages... which I know is irritating.

Surely they wouldn't cut off a "new", auto-pay customer which is just what they want, so I would ignore that threat, and hopefully your Charter experience will improve after this.

Auto pay is similar to getting a pay check via direct deposit. It goes through one (sometimes two) cycles before taking effect. If you change your tax withholding, normally the new amounts begin the second paycheck after submitting paperwork. Cable companies bill in advance, and the bill for say, March 10th to April 9th is generated around a week ahead of time.

Just a word of advice.

Make sure to stay in the habit of checking your bill online as accidents do happen and if you miss an incorrect bill, it could take quite some time to get straightened out using auto pay. Part of the reason I DON'T use it. Been there, done that, with Charter.

In fact, now that I think of it, I don't use auto pay for anyone anymore, since cancelling my XM radio a couple days ago.

Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never use Charter's auto-pay. It's like giving a signed blank check to a meth whore.

I just switched from 100/5 to 30/4 because of a surprise price increase. In the middle of a 2 year pricing agreement, they jacked up the monthly price by $15 with no warning. Of course, any time you make any account change with Charter they f#%& up the billing - and it's always in their favor.

It took 2 subsequent phone calls to get the billing fixed.
