 | [Equipment] Modem Rental Fee So, after getting my Insight Cable and Phone bill in the mail last week, I start to pour over it and now notice a "modem rental fee" of $3.95. So I looked over the last two months bills and see no "modem rental fee" on those last two bills dating back to Jan 2013. So needless to say I was slightly upset. I call Insight today and was told by the CSR that there was a notice that additional fees were coming and it was on my bill in Jan. It was not. Anyway, mute point...So I begin to question the CSR further regarding purchasing a modem, and ask him, how I am suppose to buy a modem when none of the modem's listed on Insight's website contain the "phone" part of the modem. Hum he says....I then ask the CSR for a supervisor. Was transferred, and asked the same question to the supervisor...I go on to quote Insight's website "Cable modems that are designed to work partially with the telephone system (known as "telco return" modems) will NOT work on the Insight Broadband network." He then goes on to explain that I when I purchase one of the modems listed on their website they will send a technician out to provision my modem and essential I will have two cable modems
Side by side. One for data, and one for the phone. I question the logic of me keeping the current Insight modem I have now and then purchasing another one, having them roll a truck to my house, re-provision the current Insight modem, and then setup the newly purchased one
.Does any of this make financial sense ??? All for $3.95 a month ? I am guessing it cost then at least $100 to roll a truck and re-provision the modem and provision the new one..What am I missing here, other than the obvious money grab
I ask the supervisor to waive the fee, and he would not..So I guess next week, Ill see how willing they are when I call the retention department

Good luck with the retention department, I hear they are not much better and they will tell you good luck switching to At&t or whoever.
Please keep us posted as to how that goes. | | | I had my own modem set-up, All I did was call Insight and we did it over the phone, I am in the process of switching my phone service anyway, since the Insight phone has gotten way too high in price. | | Matt_31Who Hit The Power ButtonPremium join:2003-02-21 Jasper, IN Reviews:

| reply to JoeyM I as well was hit with the fee. I paid for my modem when I signed up for service at insight. I still have the papers showing it. When I called today they did everything they could to keep it on my bill. I wanted to talk to a supervisor and that was a task and half as well. Since late last year I've had sooo many issues between cable boxes going bad and service disrupts.
Todays call about the "modem fee" was interesting cause as soon as I called and things were getting worked on the CSR comes back on the phone and my telephone goes out. I had to call back on my cell and talk to someone.
My opinion is I should NOT have to call them. Like my cell service I have only ever called at&t ONE time in 6yrs. Insight/TWC I've had to call TONS of times especially in the last 4 months. If we had other service up here I would leave .. but that's not a option. I would expect them to be better as they claim. -- Intel I7-930 2.80GHz, X58A-UD3R Mobo, G.Skill 6GB Triple Channel Ram, EVGA 560 Video, Samsung 830 256GB SSD, 2 VelociRaptors 150GB Each, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, | |
