[Connectivity] slow speeds Sacramento, Ca

Is anyone else in the Sacramento area experiencing slow speeds, especially upload?

Right now, I'm getting ~20Mb/s down and 120Kb/s up on our 50/10 blast.

modem numbers all look within spec, etc.

Reset your modem...

Run this test. »speedtest.comcast.net/

I've had problems with the one you posted.

what are your speeds like in the morning? still crappy?

your download speed about as crappy as mine is right now (8:50pm) on my blast 50/10 connection. but my upstream bandwidth is fine.

(note that was done with no other load on the network, over 300Mbps wireless using chrome, hence the high ping time... ).

strangely enough my speeds are beautiful during the morning and daytime hours. primetime when everyone gets home in the area the downstream speeds go straight to shit, while upstream speeds and latency are perfect.

yeah I've been tracking and trending my prime-time downstream bandwidth issues for a couple months now, recently posted about it in the direct forum, hopefully will get somewhere with it. With all of the evidence i have, it's basically a pretty package with a bow attached for a comcast tech to look at.

i was hoping after the 50/10 upgrade that there would be some capacity changes but it's the same issue still. Except that now, i still have a pretty fat upstream pipe.

Maybe my region could go 8 channel bonding, that might help. I can only hope.

I've learned to do any big file transfers during the morning hours...

@ 12:42am your connection returned but during the evening time when everyone gets home from work your connection goes in the dumpster. Might be worse all weekend long when most are off of work for the weekend. Does that sound about right?

no.. usually have been getting full speed no issues during 'prime time' here.. its only been the last couple of evenings.. and it starts at random (4 pm one day, 6 the other) and lasts for 4 - 6 hours +/-

update: tech was out on Wed, 3/27 and found nothing unusual with the physical wires, modem, or sig strengths, however he did say something about some electrical noise on the line from somewhere around here - never had any issues like that before.. so he may have been umm embellishing it a bit to close the ticket.. not sure.
