[ipv6] Can IPv6 RS packet have SA = Global IPv6 address?

Hi All,

Could anyone let me know if a router solicit pkt can have the source address as a global IPv6 address rather than having a link local IPv6 address.

Hey, let me Google that for you, or RFC4861, specifically sect. 4.1.

Thanks for the pointer.
The RFC quotes:
RS Source address is
"An IP address assigned to the sending interface, or
the unspecified address if no address is assigned
to the sending interface"

So, it can be either global or link local .. right?

There are other portions of that RFC mentioning other addresses which are definitely restricted. There is no definitive answer, other than to mention the general principle of that which is not explicitly prohibited is likely allowed.
