It costs T-Mobile to acquire the phone and spreading that cost over time cost T-Mobile money, money the consumer should be paying. You have an option, buy your own phone. They have been doing this for a while now. I'd say close to a year now. This really isn't a new concept for t-mobile. Just making a big splash. Obviously if it's costing t-mobile money, they wouldn't have kept this option.
