Carry on bag when fying

I will travailing by Delta airlines in May. I would like to know can you take a back pack and a laptop as a carry on. The laptop should fit under the seat.

Yes, that is fine. You can either put the laptop in the backpack or just carry it on separate from the backpack.

On a side note, I fly Delta a lot and only take a larger carry-on. Seems a lot of my flights are either completely booked or one of those jets with 2 seats on either side. Delta always offers to check the carry-on at the gateway. I always do this and just remove my laptop and phone stuff (extra batteries). That way I don't need to worry about getting an over-head bin and I only need to wait a couple of minutes for the bag. I understand not everyone wants to do this but I really don't mind at all.

I usually put the laptop in the magazine holder. I place the magazines behind my back in the seat as this helps a little with my lower back pain.

Basically the main things I need to take on the plane is my meds, extra laptop battery and headphones. So i'll will need a carry on bag.
